Using AI safely
What you can and can't share with AI tools. Understand the data boundaries that apply at Havas Lynx and why they matter in healthcare.
Before worrying about what to remove, understand where your data actually goes.
How public AI tools use your data
When you use a free or personal AI account — a consumer tier of ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot — your inputs may be stored and used to train future models. That has real implications for confidential business information.
The risk chain
You paste a confidential document into a personal AI account
→That input is stored on the provider's servers
→It may be used to train future model versions
→Your information could surface in answers given to other users
Approved enterprise tools are contractually protected: your data is not used for training and is not accessible to other users. Check your organisation's policy for which tools are approved.
Confidentiality goes beyond personal data. Plenty of material is commercially sensitive even when no names are mentioned:
Use only approved tools for work content. Never paste sensitive information into personal AI accounts.
